Thomas Thiis-Evensen

I have watched 'På arkitekt-tur i byen' three times in the past year, and I thought I should mention Thomas Thiis-Evensen, who has created this wonderful TV program. He is an architect and professor, who has starred in many really interesting NRK architecture programs throughout the years. 'På arkitekt-tur i byen' was made in the year 1990, and even though it's a 27 year old program, it's still of utmost relevance.

Its main theme is how the different types of buildings of Oslo, form different kinds of city structures. Most importantly, it explores the effect that these have on the environment of the people who live here. The following terms are used as starting points to this theme; the compact city, the open city and the splintered city. Thomas Thiis-Evensen makes both clever and funny remarks about his many architectural observations. I warmly recommend watching it. Unfortunately it is only available in Norwegian, and there are no subtitles.
